what we offer in this class
Class overview
The program uses the latest editions (1-6) of the classic textbook “Chinese,” specifically designed for overseas Chinese students. The instruction is primarily in Chinese, covering listening, speaking, reading, and writing, with a focus on cultivating students’ interest in learning Chinese and developing good study habits.
First-grade students will have pinyin instruction as part of their Chinese learning process. Fourth-grade students will begin simple writing training.
A highlight of our teaching is the systematic inclusion of Chinese history, geography, culture, and contemporary issues in an upward spiral across all grade levels. This approach aims to gradually achieve the goal of Australian community language schools: to help students develop a sense of identity and inherit the language and culture of their ancestral country. At the same time, it makes the courses more engaging and motivates students to learn Chinese independently.
Students interested in crafts and Chinese culture can also choose an afternoon Chinese cultural craft class. The content of this class is closely related to the morning Chinese lessons, aiming to create a Chinese environment in the most enjoyable way for children. This allows them to learn about Chinese culture easily and happily while making friends with other Chinese children, fostering a sense of identity and belonging to the Chinese school.
