Class overview
About HSK Exam:
The HSK exam, or the Chinese Proficiency Test, is primarily aimed at learners for whom Chinese is not their first language. According to the HSK classification, young learners of Chinese at different age levels are suitable for taking the HSK (Youth) exam. Specifically, children who have studied 150 hours of Chinese are suitable for Level 1; those who have studied 250 hours are suitable for Level 2; and those who have studied 400 hours are suitable for Level 3. This indicates that the HSK (Youth) exam is designed for children under the age of 15, aiming to assess their proficiency in Chinese.
Furthermore, when applying for scholarships or other related programs, non-Chinese nationals are generally required to be in good health and are subject to age restrictions, typically between 16 and 35 years old (with in-service Chinese teachers eligible up to 45 years old). This further confirms that the age requirements for the HSK exam are primarily focused on the youth stage.
In summary, the age requirements for the HSK exam are mainly concentrated on children under 15, aiming to assess the Chinese proficiency of learners in this age group.
