Introduction to the Chinese Language School of Western Australia

The Chinese Language School of Western Australia (CLSWA) was established in 2024, building on the foundation of the Western Australia Chinese Library.

Registered as a community language school with the Australian government, CLSWA adheres to non-political, non-religious, and non-profit principles.

The school is dedicated to providing high-quality Chinese education services to the Chinese community in Western Australia and local Australians.

The mission of CLSWA is “Learn Chinese, Understand Culture, Know Yourself, See the World.”

CLSWA prioritizes teaching quality as its foundation, employing international Chinese education experts to lead the teaching team. With professional teaching methods and rich teaching experience, CLSWA creates an efficient, professional, and enjoyable learning environment for students.

  • Local Australian elementary and middle school students learning Chinese as a second language
  • Adults, institutions, and groups needing professional Chinese training

Preschool Special Courses

CLSWA uses the exclusively authorized full-color textbook “Young Children’s Chinese,” integrating multimedia and focusing on listening and speaking skills. Classroom teaching includes activities like “Recognize,” “Recite,” “Speak,” “Sing,” and “Trace,” which are popular with children.

Courses are taught by teachers with early childhood education experience.

Special Courses for Grades 1-12

CLSWA adopts the latest classic textbook “Chinese” designed for Chinese students.

Primarily taught in Chinese, the course balances listening, speaking, reading, and writing, focusing on cultivating students’ interest in learning Chinese and good study habits.

First-grade teaching includes pinyin instruction.

Fourth-grade students will begin basic writing training.

Rooted in the Australian-Chinese cultural background, CLSWA integrates a self-developed multimedia courseware “Window to the World” throughout the 12-year curriculum, aiming to systematically and progressively lead students on an exciting cultural journey, helping them understand Chinese, Australian, and world cultures.

This aligns with the school’s mission of “Know Yourself, See the World,” making the courses lively and interesting, and stimulating students’ motivation for self-directed Chinese learning.

Additionally, selected students through exams can enter elite Chinese classes (with limited spots), taught by excellent and experienced teachers, focusing on comprehensive development in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, with additional reading guidance and writing training.

Special Courses for Grades 1-12

CLSWA provides efficient, professional, and engaging courses for elementary and middle school students who choose Chinese as a second language in day schools.

Taught bilingually in Chinese and English, led by international Chinese education experts.

Using the latest and most professional international Chinese teaching materials, along with self-developed courseware rooted in Australian-Chinese cultural history, geography, and folklore, CLSWA lays a solid foundation for second language learners to become comprehensive bilingual talents.

Additionally, CLSWA offers customized courses for adult students with different Chinese proficiency levels, tailored to meet the needs of work, business, and travel in Chinese.

HSK Chinese Proficiency Test

CLSWA offers courses aligned with the HSK exam syllabus for students aiming to obtain Chinese proficiency certification, using relevant HSK textbooks and bilingual instruction.

The school provides information on studying in China and assists students in applying for Chinese scholarships based on their circumstances.
